Chief Justice Roy Moore placed a monument of the Ten Commandments on display in the Supreme Court Building in Alabama. This monument shows the Ten Commandments along with other historical quotes from American history which refer to God. This monument gives tribute to the relation between our civil laws and the edicts stated in the Ten Commandments.  Many of our laws such as do not steal, do not kill are stated in the Ten Commandments and have been part of Western Civilizations Laws for centuries. Similar displays of the Ten Commandments can be found around the country in and on government buildings, including the U.S. Supreme Court Building and the U.S. Capital Building in Washington D.C.

The ACLU claims that this monument violates the Constitution. They argue that this violates the "Separation of Church and State " by establishing a Religion, and went to court to have the monument removed. But does this monument establish any one Religion? The Ten Commandments are recognized as the word of God by Protestants, Catholics, Jews, and Moslems; and therefore, does not establish any One Religion, but only acknowledges the same God from many faiths. In a national poll taken in August 2003, 77% of Americans supported the Ten Commandments display in Alabama! At the same time the other Alabama Supreme Court Judges ordered the Monument removed, and it was removed at the end of August 2003.

It is as if the government is saying to the people that the Ten Commandments do not mean anything and they can be ignored. Put another way, the government is sending the message to the public, that it's OK to swear, it's OK to steal, it's OK to lie, it's OK to cheat, it's OK to commit adultery, it's OK to kill people, it's OK to disobey your parents, it's OK to work on Sunday, or it's OK to make money your God.

In a recent FOX No Spin Zone "talking points" commentary Bill O'Reilly made the following statement. "There is a move in the United States to change the country. The ACLU is hooking up with a number of liberal judges to declare things that they don't like as unconstitutional. Now, a judge can declare anything unconstitutional -- you can interpret the words of the founders in many different ways -- but the will of the people has always been the driving force behind policy in America. "

"This is changing and here's the best example I can give you. According to a Gallup Poll, 77 percent of Americans do not object to displaying the Ten Commandments in a courtroom. However, as we know, a federal court has ruled the display unconstitutional. So it is not the will of the people that the judges are concerned about and it's also not prior history, as the Ten Commandments have been displayed in public forums for more than 200 years."

"In my upcoming book, Who's Looking Out for You, I provide rock-solid proof that the Founding Fathers wanted spirituality incorporated into public policy -- that is, they wanted a definite morality right and wrong to be considered in policy matters.  Now the ACLU and some judges are hell bent -- pardon the pun -- on changing that and circumventing the will of the people.". . . .

"America is this close to being ruled by judges, not we the people."

It just amazes me, that the arm of the government (the Judicial Branch), that is to uphold and enforce the laws of the country, would make such a ruling, which promote a lawless society. I believe that the time has come for American's to take actions against judges that refuse to follow the Constitution as it was written, but prefer to twist it around to mean the opposite of its intended meaning. Judges should lose their jobs when they show such contempt for the people and the Constitution. At present, Federal Judges can not be impeached! This should and must be changed!
